    Successful Retreat planning

    2010 - 11.03

    Why hold a retreat?
It is important to be clear about your objectives before planning a retreat. Often people at the end of the retreats do not get required results because of ambiguous expectations regarding results. Ideally, expectations regarding outcomes should be measured in quantifiable terms so that it can be easily compared with the actual outcomes. Unfortunately, most of the people treat retreats as a recreational tour and they do not link it with the objectives.
Where a retreat should be held?
This is a challenging question for many organizations. Your choice of location can make or break your corporate retreat. Location should be decided after giving careful consideration to the objectives that an organization desires to achieve. Ideally a retreat should be conducted at some hilly area. You can book some rooms in a hotel or hire some big house. Second option will be less costly than the former and will also meet your objectives. These houses at beautiful places are easily available at a very reasonable cost.

    Who should attend the retreat?
The answer depends on the issues to be discussed during the retreat. As a general rule, members who have an interest in the issues to be discussed should participate.

    Notice of the Retreat
You need to give an advance notice to the participants of the type of activity they will be participating in. You may choose to give them minimal information or provide them with detailed information.

    Facility
Choosing a facility for your retreat is the most important decision to make your retreat successful. The facility must be able to accommodate your planned agenda, but should also provide options for spontaneity.

    Refreshment Arrangements
Refreshment plans should be made for retreats. If you are conducting long sessions, refreshment arrangement will be lunch or dinner. Short sessions’ refreshment strategy may be concluded with cold or hot drinks.

Other than these activities, organizers may offer Free Online Games to help participants spend their free time with excitement. One such resource is Onlinespiele
