Gencon is in its 50th year, and in honour of E. Gary Gygax, I'm actually going. Fuck yeah!

Pre-Con Show: I'm sitting here in at Gate 28, waiting for that plane to show up. HURRY UP! From what I've read on the site, its shaping up to be pretty kick-ass. Click the logo to get to the site.

DAY 1
Did nothing that has anything to do with video gaming, other then play some Pitfall for the old Atari 2600. Actually, there were some demos of a few games, like Witcher, Sacred II, and I think I saw a new Fable II trailer. However, I was too busy rolling dice to really do much.

Oh, and by the way? Alienware is an amazing computer. I just wish they were less expenisve. Waaaay fucking overpriced, even for something that runs like those babies.

DAY 2
Two updates. One, a new MMORPG called Champion Online. It looks like its just City of Heroes with WoW like graphics. Which it should be, because its made by Cryptic, the guys who made CoH. Needless to say, I played a demo and had a shit ton of fun. The WoW-type interface is kind of annoying, but I suppose its becoming some what of a norm for MMOs these days, and I don't mind too much. Also saw a trailer for Star Trek Online, which looks like its going to be overhyped. And everyone is going to be making Picard and Worf and Kirk. Which has always bothered the CRAP out of me in these MMORPGs based off of an incredibly popular video game or movie. Everyone wants to be Neo or Luke Skywalker.

Second, I discovered a new RPG called Eiros Essence. Its based more around story-telling then beating the fuck out of each other, which appeals to me, because I do enjoy weaving the occasional epic universe. Also, in this universe, other then your standard humans, you've got more original races then... most things I've seen. You've got the Sinaerie, who are essentially Element Elves, born from crystals that eminate the energy of these elements. The Silthien are giant rodents, except they can, you know, BEND REALITY! The Leorich, bipedal felines (Not furries, you asshole) that are manifested from the spirits of fire and lightning. My favourite part of this world is that every creature is equal. So you can play as WOLVES! And some form of awesome snow wolf spirit thing. But mostly, WOLVES!

The system and game, as well as the art, is fantastic. I just wish the site was written in a way I liked more.

Yes, that is my only complaint about it.

DAY 3 and 4
Played two Wargods demos, the Greek setting and the Egyptian setting. It uses only d10s, like the old days of Dungeons and Dragons, but also uses miniatures. I would have bought a set, but they were kinda pricey. Also tried out a demo for a LEGO table-top (Which are like Warhammer), which was simple and easy, but somewhat boring. Also played this Space Invaders type game, but it was an FPS. Didn't like it. At all.
