I swear to god I love this game. I don't even think it needs a review, because all I really need to say is "Go buy this game. now", because it's so awesome.

If you have ever played Metal Slug (of course you have), then you know how damn fun these games are, and when you can play them anywhere, they're so fun, that public orgasming is actually encouraged.

The game starts off like any other Metal Slug game, you drop down, and suddenly have a whole shitload of enemys shooting at you, (PROTOP: YOU'RE ONLY A MAN IF YOU PLAY THE GAME ON HARD) which you have to kill with your current weapon, which will either be the Heavy Machine gun if you're a softie and picked Beginner, and a regular pistol on Hard. (unles you pic Fio, on Easy mode, she begins with the Big Heavy Machine Gun from Metal Slug X and 3).

The same game mechanics apply to this Metal Slug as did the previous entries in the series from SNK, gun and run, move on, kill, free prisioner, get awesome gun, repeat. The game isn't that hard, but you WILL find yourself dying alot if you play Hard, which in my opinion, is the best way to play the game.

As you can see, looks pretty chaotic, and if you're wondering why, that's because it really friggin' is chaotic. I mean seriously, shit comes from every angle. If you've played the previous one, or Contra 4, you will understand how chaotic these games can actually get.

Characters are the same as the previous game:
Marco: His default weapon (Pistol on Hard, Heavy Machine Gun on Easy) has twice the ordinary strength.
Tarma: While riding in or on a Slug, durability and the effects of power-ups are doubled; additionally, the vulcan cannon's power is increased by 50%. He also is capable of using Vulcan Fix when on or in any vehicle.
Fio: Begins each mission with the Heavy Machine Gun (on Easy mode, she begins with the Big Heavy Machine Gun from Metal Slug X and 3). Weapon supply is also increased by 50%.
Eri: Receives twice as many grenades upon starting or resupplying. When throwing, she can aim in a specific direction.
Ralf: Melee attack speed is doubled, at the expense of weapon and grenade supplies being halved. He can also use the special 'Vulcan Punch' attack, melee strikes capable of damaging vehicles. Can take two hits from most attacks before losing a life.
Clark: gets an extra chance at start of respawn. He can perform his 'Argentina Backbreaker' against most non-vehicle enemies, and he's immune to damage during the move, also earning generous amounts of points with such action.

Nice selection. You don't need to really think when choosing your character, unless you're playing easy, then I suggest to pick Fio, due to her stronger weapon, BUT PLAY IT ON HARD, GODDAMNIT.

In total, there are 7 levels to play through, which are all very VERY fun to play. New to the series is Prisoners List, which shows how many of the prisioners you've free'd. Straight from Metal Slug X is Combat School Mode, which does exactly the same as the last one, teaches you what you're going to do through out the game. It's like training in the Worm's series. I cut this review short because there's not much more to say.
