Welcome to Vault 101, your permanent location during your life in post-apocalyptic USA. Or perhaps, is it? You start out the game by being born. You choose your own name and adult look. You then progress through the years of your life until you are 19 when your father escapes Vault 101. Being as devoted to your father you go after him out in post-apocalyptic USA.

That is just a very brief summary of the story in Fallout 3. And of course, you make that story your own by your decisions much like KOTR and Oblivion. You might think that is just another RPG by hearing that, but in no way is it. It is what I call an amazing game, simply put.

I actually have no idea how to get the dog.

The story has many things to do. There is a vast amount of side-quests and the main story. All I can say without giving much away is that the story is amazing. Whoever wrote this better be getting paid well, it is the first RPG that I didn’t put down after 8 hours. But a lot of it also has to do with the unique combat system and not to mention the amazing graphics.

The combat system is amazing, at least if you use it correctly. Shooting without the use of the VATS combat system is a No-No. You must use it, especially if you like heads flying off bodies in great detail. The game itself however is not a FPS. Slow camera speed and gun inaccuracy make it impossible for the game to be a run and gun game such as Halo 3.

The physics in this game are quite good as well. Shoot a soldiers arm, they usually drop their weapon, shoot their leg, they limp. Its disturbingly life like, except you know the whole apocalypse thing. But the physics can be fun. If you manage to shoot a limb off it goes flying, making it enjoyable if you like those things like I do.

There is a wide array of weapons that you can choose from the mighty Fat Man that shoots Mini-Nukes to the 10mm Pistol. There are a handful of melee weapons as well that can be chosen from and a feature we all remember from the G4 demo where they shot a man’s head off with a teddy bear launcher. Yes, you can build weapons, it is amazing.

We come to one of the highlights of the game. The art and graphics. I went to DC in March. I remember vividly what it looked like, and seeing it destroyed is disturbing. The National Mall I remember most of all, and it is so realistically put together and destroyed it almost seems read, it is definitely the highlight of this game.

I honestly hate the hunting rifle in the game.

We also have a radio station that plays some retro songs, however there is not enough variety to call this a perfect 100. However the weapon sounds are amazing and lifelike.

The difficulty is well balanced, the enemies are not easy to kill at all, but neither are you, making it well balanced. Although it a bit hard to find a place to revive yourself without being exposed to radiation, which eventually gives you radiation poisoning which is not good, as you can expect.

I can say that the quests do get a bit boring and I have to put down the controller and rest a bit before ‘needing’ to play again, but all in all this game is worth it. However this game froze on me. It’s a brand new game, and on a console that can handle anything made for it. I did hear that there were some glitches in the PS3 version that was not in the 360 and PC version but none the less it looks amazing in 1080p.

A great game as it is, it has its faults as every game does. So far, dancube.net has spotted these errors and we have yet to give a game the coveted 100%. Sorry Fallout 3, maybe Fallout 4 will get it, but it is not ruled out that this game could win Game of the Year.
