First off let me say I’m not just writing this review because I’m forced to by Quinn. No, I’m writing it because I want to. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the 4th major installment in the Metal Gear Series developed and produced by Konami, and by god how amazing this company has proved itself to be in this game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 takes you on the adventures of Solid Snake, a combination spy, special operations agent and mercenary of FOXHOUND. In this installment he appears as “Old” Snake in which advanced cellular degeneration caused by the cloning process used to create him has aged him prematurely.

The game is amazing. It’s graphics are top notch, the best you can get, and really, who doesn’t love bloom on the battlefield. There is a wide array of weapons to choose from in which you can acquire from picking up from dead enemies, or buying from a new feature: Drebin’s Shop.

Who honestly uses the pistol?

The combat system was thought out very well. The best third person shooter I have ever played in fact. The Snake Eye just makes it even better. With the Octocamo it makes it an even more fun game to play then Splinter Cell. It still is able to keep that stealth aspect, but still keeps the combat plentiful.

The story itself always keeps you interested, even through the hilariously long cut scenes (Seriously, with all the cut scenes this game could make multiple movies on its own. All the cut scenes together are 5 – 7 hours. Bring Popcorn.) It’s amazing the depth Konami’s Writers were able to implement into this game, I could compare it to epics such as the Lord of the Ring series.

The game is also packaged with Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer game that is based off of Metal Gear Solid 4. The game is great, a well thought out game. Not thrown together quickly like other multiplayer games. A lot to do, it will keep you busy after you have beat the main story line of Metal Gear Solid 4

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a long game; I still haven’t beaten it myself. But from what I have seen, it is the most amazing game I have played to date, ranking above the Halo series. The only thing bad about the game is that when Snake dies, Otacon’s “Snake? Snake?! SNAKEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”  is not quite as satisfying as previous games.
